Sedation Dentistry

Nitrous Oxide

If you feel uneasy about your dental visit and are looking for a safe alternative you've come to the right place. Yonge Dentistry can provide you with dental treatments under Nitrous Oxide.

This form of conscious sedation offered at Yonge Dentistry helps to ease anxiety and enhance procedural comfort.

Your teeth can be fixed, sore gums restored, and your smile brightened without discomfort while you are almost asleep and relaxed through your appointment with our dentists.

Nitrous Oxide has been a means of sedation in dentistry for many years. Nitrous oxide is safe, the patient receives up to 70% nitrous with no less than 30% oxygen. It has been used by millions of patients around the world for dental and medical sedation.

You are able to breathe on your own and remain in control of all bodily functions. You don't need to be accompanied by another person to take you home after nitrous oxide administration. You will be able to walk or drive home unaccompanied. The gas is administered with a comfortable mask placed over the nose, and the patient is instructed to breathe in through the nose and out through their mouth. The patient begins to feel a pleasant level of sedation anywhere from 30 seconds to three or four minutes. After the treatment is completed, the patient is given pure oxygen to breathe for about five minutes, and all the effects of sedation are usually reversed.

You may want to ask our dentists for a “5 minute trial” to see how you feel with this type of sedation method before proceeding with further treatment.

We use intraoral cameras that allow us to share before and after picture of treatments performed in our office. This gives us a tremendous advantage when educating patients to be completely informed and confident about any treatment that needs to be done.
